Veterinarians

Patrick H. Dwyer , DVM

Dr. Dwyer is a co-owner of the practice. He and his wife Sani have two daughters, a grandson, and a granddaughter. Their pets include two golden retrievers, Stevie and Rudy.

Franklin M. Carmona , DVM

Dr. Carmona joined our hospital after graduating from Michigan State University's College of Veterinary Medicine in 1989. He became co-owner in 1992. His veterinary interests include surgery and pocket pets.

Dr. Carmona is married to Jacqueline Walsh, DVM and they have two children. Their pets include a box turtle, a leopard gecko, a guinea pig, and a Bernese Mountain Dog named Gus.

Alison V. Smith , DVM

Dr. Smith has been on staff at North Hills since May 2003. She graduated from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine with Honors in 2003. Dr. Smith is a member of the American Association of Feline Practitioners, the American Veterinary Medical Association, Michigan Veterinary Medical Association, and the Southeastern Michigan Veterinary Medical Association. Her special interests are feline medicine and behavior.

Outside of work Dr. Smith enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Her dog, Murray, is a certified therapy dog with Therapy Dogs International and is an active volunteer with In House Hospice. She resides in Shelby Township with her husband Dan, Murray the dog, and a cat Max.

Practice Manager

Kim Schur

Kim came to work at our hospital in 1999 and became the practice manager in 2001. She has been working in the veterinary field since graduating from high school in '84. Kim is married to Earl and they have several four-legged "children" - 2 dogs and 4 cats - and other occasional foster pets.

Reception Staff

Sandy Taube

Sandy has worked at our hospital since 2006. She is married to Herb and they have 3 children. Their pets include a dog named Butchie, and 5 cats.
Denise G. Truszkowski

Denise has worked at our hospital since 1999. She is married to Tom and has three children. Her pets include a cockapoo named Tuesday and a cat named Dexter.

Technicians

Courtney E. Rindle , LVT

Courtney is a Licensed Veterinary Technician that graduated from Macomb Community College in May 2003. She has been working at our hospital since graduating from the program. She is married to Jacob. All of her pets have been rescues. She currently has 1 dog and 3 cats.
Joyce E. Phillips , LVT

Joyce is a Licensed Veterinary Technician that graduated from Macomb Community College in May 1993 and has been working with the hospital since graduating from the technician program. She has 2 rescued cats which are brother and sister.
Annette L. Chisholm , BS, LVT

Annette is a graduate of Michigan State University and Macomb Community College’s Veterinary Technician Program. She has worked at our hospital since graduating from MCC in May 2000. She has 1 dog, 2 cats and 2 cockatiels.
Sue Wyrick , LVT

Sue started working at our hospital in 1974 and now helps us on weekends. She and her husband Charlie have a Labrador Retreiver named Cooper.

Veterinary Assistants

Deb Hall

Deb helps us on weekends. She is married to Mike and they have four daughters and twin grandsons. She is a licensed wildlife rehabilitor. Her pets include 1 dog, 3 cats, and multiple feathered friends.
Kristen Szczepankowski

Kristen has worked at our hospital since 2006. She is currently attending Wayne County Community College's Veterinary Technician Program. She has a dog named Nikita and a horse named Annie.
